Vals Chileno is a traditional Chilean folk genre characterized by a 3/4 waltz rhythm. It emerged in the 19th century as a fusion of European salon waltzes and local criollo traditions, featuring heartfelt, narrative-driven lyrics and acoustic instrumentation that reflects the rural culture of central and southern Chile.
