Cool Jazz
About
This cool jazz lament unfolds with a swinging double bass groove and brushed drums, framing improvisational saxophone solos that weave through complex chord progressions laced with blue notes. Heartfelt vocals improvise over syncopated rhythms evoking lost love's ache, culminating in trading fours between piano and trumpet for an intimate, shadowy depth. The head-in and head-out structure captures emotional vitality in a misty, nocturnal haze.
Lyrics
Soft shadows dance on walls of night Heart improvises through the fight Lost rhythms where your memory lies Blue edges sharp against the comb Swinging low, defying death Of low, defying death Of love that slipped right through my poem Soft shadows dance on walls of night Whispers bend like hidden sight Lost rhythms where your memory lies Blue edges sharp against the comb Swinging low, defying death Of love that slipped right through my poem Swinging low, defying death Of love that slipped right through my poem Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
