About
This soulful blues track unfolds over a classic 12-bar progression, with gritty guitar bends and blue notes evoking the raw pain of betrayal, enhanced by call-and-response vocals that build emotional intensity. The production delivers an unpolished, live-room feel with acoustic guitar, harmonica wails, and subtle bass and drums, prioritizing vocal grit and improvisational flourishes for an intimate, resilient atmosphere. Sparse and emotive, it captures the yearning heartache of broken promises in a timeless Delta style.
Lyrics
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh But your sweet lies twisted like a knife in the dark Left me bleeding, tore out my spark Oh, the betrayal burns deep in my soul You walked away cold, left me less hope But I'll rise from this ache Stand tall on my own Betrayal's your chain Not mine to atone Friends said you wandered Into the night With secrets you carried Out of my sight Your touch turned to poison Your words turned to flight Now I'm picking up pieces Holding on tight Yeah, the sting will fade Like a slow setting sun I'll sing through the hurt Till the battle is won Betrayal's your ghost But I'm finally free Walking my road Just my heart and me Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh Oh, oh, oh, your shadow on the wall Mm-hmm
