Sunburnt Alibi

She leaned in cool by the gas pump shade Cherry red can and a sideways gaze Painting short and a county road grin Looked like trouble I could blame on the wind Tank half full and the sun still high One look over and I lost my wife She was a sunburned alibi Cold drink lips and a July night lie Whole town knew I was going too far Soon as she leaned through the window of my car Can't call it love, but I can call it wise She was a sunburned alibi Riverbank road with the speakers low Dust in the dash and a peach glow dusk She drew a heart in the fogged up glass Then laughed like nothing good ever lasts Might have been heat, might have been her Might have been one long night I still ain't cured She was a sunburned alibi Cold drink lips and a July night lie Whole town knew I was going too far Soon as she leaned through the window of my car Can't call it love, but I can call it wise She was a sunburned alibi Yeah, she was a sunburned alibi Yeah, she was a sunburned alibi
