About
A raw, soulful Delta blues track built on a classic 12-bar progression, featuring emotive male vocals with blue notes and call-and-response pleas like 'Lord, have mercy.' Expressive guitar bends and a harmonica solo pierce through sparse acoustic instrumentation, evoking hardship and resilience with unpolished grit and intimate live feel. Syncopated rhythms and improvisation highlight the organic warmth of American roots music.
Lyrics
guitar solo Delta blues hang heavy in the air Empty hand, reach out, nothing there Dawn breaks cold, no warmth to hold Backbends low, under loads untold Mixing the grind, the grind Chasing shadows Leaving peace behind, Lord Have mercy Call my name Through the fire, the fire It's all the same Hardships change It pulls me down It pulls me deep It pulls me deep Wounds that ache No time for sleep But deep inside A spark won't die I'll stand tall Touch the sky I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light I'll see the light
