Taiwanese Opera, known as Gezaixi, is a vibrant traditional theater art form originating from Taiwan. It integrates sung arias, spoken recitatives, acrobatics, and martial arts to perform folklore, historical epics, and moral allegories, characterized by its unique blend of Hokkien vocal traditions and orchestral accompaniment.

Origin: Taiwan, with roots in the Min Nan culture of southern Fujian Province, China.

Era: Early 20th century to present, evolved from 19th-century Fujianese Ligeixi traditions in Taiwan.
