Corridos

Corridos are traditional Mexican narrative ballads that recount epic tales of heroes, outlaws, historical events, and social struggles. Rooted in oral tradition, they feature a distinct storytelling structure, typically performed with accordion, bajo sexto, and tololoche.

Origin: Northern Mexico (Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, border regions) and the U.S. Southwest.

Era: Late 19th century to present, with significant evolution during the Mexican Revolution.
